Italy is the most popular tourist destination in the world, as shown by a study carried out by the travel website TravelSupermarket.
The study traced Google’s Keyword Planner looking for the term “holiday in X” for over 870 destinations in order to uncover the average number of searches each month in every country.
“Interestingly, European countries dominate the most Googled holiday destinations globally with four out of the top five being located on the continent,” travel editor at TravelSupermarket, Joey Tyson, told The Local.
He added that Italy, in particular, gets 226,860 monthly hits according to their research.
The top destinations following Italy include Spain, Australia, Greece, and France.
