Gemayel describes L’Orient Le Jour controversy as return to Syrian era, fears Hezbollah expanding presence in Christian areas
Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel on Friday described the recent controversy over an article published in L’Orient Le Jour as a return to “the dark days of Syrian guardianship, which oppressed all free voices in Lebanon.” During a visit of solidarity to the newspaper offices, Gemayel said MP Michel Aoun had used “the same means to intimidate the press and journalists and impose his positions on them.”
Geagea calls quadripartite meetings in Damascus as “stone soup”
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said that Thursday’s quadripartite meeting in Damascus, which included Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyep Erdogan, “stone soup.”
Soueid: Assad’s statements on quadripartite talks are incomprehensible

Jumblatt:Syria may exploit security situation in the North
In an interview with As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper on Friday, Head of the Democratic Gathering bloc MP Walid Jumblatt said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad aimed for a bigger settlement on the Golan Heights issue and for dialogue with the United States. He added that the quadripartite summit between Turkey, France, Qatar and Syria that was held in Damascus on Thursday contradicted the results of the Arab League summit in Riyadh in 2007.
