Vatican Rejects Appointment of 'Masonic' Lebanese Ambassador

Pope Francis has reportedly refused to accept Lebanon’s proposed new ambassador to the Holy See over his links to freemasonry.

According to Italian newspaper “Il Messaggero", Pope Francis informed Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri during his visit to the Vatican that Johnny Ibrahim, who currently serves as Lebanon’s general consul in Los Angeles, was an unacceptable candidate given his affiliation with a masonic lodge.

The Vatican had reportedly sent several indirect messages asking Lebanon to appoint another candidate, but Foreign Minister clinged to Ibrahim's nomination.

The Pope is strongly opposed to lobby groups infiltrating the Church, noting that he spoke out against the “lobby of masons” soon after his election.
