Clashes Erupt at Refugee Camp Following Islamist Militant's Death

Clashes erupted at the Ain Al-Helwe refugee camp on Friday between the Palestinian Joint Security Force and Islamist militants after extremist Mohammad Jamal Hamad had been killed.

An ambush targeting the joint security force was set up by the Bilal Badr group, led by Bilal Al-Arkoub, killing Abed Bassam Al-Maqdah, the National News Agency reported.

Head of the Palestinian Joint Security Force, Bassam Al-Saad, denied news reports claiming that he had been subject to an assassination attempt.

According to the NNA, the Lebanese Army has consequently taken strict measures at the checkpoints located near the camp and closed all of the entrance gates.
