Closing Arguments Set to Start at STL

Nearly four years after the first hearing in the case of Rafik Hariri’s assassination, the prosecution, defense and victims’ representatives will give their closing arguments Tuesday – the final step before a verdict.

The prosecution at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, led by Norman Farrell, will begin, summarizing its case against four Hezbollah-affiliated individuals for their roles in orchestrating the 2005 bombing that killed the former prime minister and 21 other people.

The team has contended that Hassan Merhi, Assad Sabra and Hussein Oneissi were responsible for a subsequent cover-up operation, manipulating a young Palestinian man in Beirut, Ahmad Abu Adass, into falsely confessing to the crime.
